About Tenant Hive

Tenant Hive is an independent tenant rights organisation in the UK, dedicated to simplifying housing law for private renters in England and Wales.

Tenant Hive exists because renting should feel safe and stable, not stressful and confusing. If you are a tenant facing an eviction notice, a deposit dispute, mould, disrepair or pressure to leave your home, you are not alone here.

At Tenant Hive we want to help you know and apply your legal rights so that dodgy landlords are kept in check.

Why does Tenant Hive exist?

Tenant Hive was created because we kept seeing the same pattern. Good tenants were being given eviction notices they did not understand, told they had no rights when they did, and pushed into leaving homes they could legally stay in. Most people only meet housing law when something has already gone wrong. By that point you are worried, time is tight, and the information online is noisy and difficult to trust. Tenant Hive was built to change that experience for tenants.

Tenant Hive is a place to learn your rights before a crisis hits. The guides and resources are written for real tenants in England, not for lawyers. The focus is on what you can do today. That might be gathering the right evidence about mould and damp, checking whether your deposit was protected, or understanding the difference between a valid notice and one that can be challenged.

Behind Tenant Hive is a commitment to fairness in renting. Landlords and agents often have repeat experience with the legal process, tenants usually do not. That imbalance can make you feel powerless. By giving you clear information and where you can get further help, Tenant Hive helps to level that ground so you can make confident decisions about your home.
